The Weekly Check In - with Victoria Keddie

(Part of The Weekly Check In series)

The Weekly Checkin with Victoria Keddie. Victoria currently lives in New York, does the window displays for Barneys among other random things…

RR: What are you currently working on or just finished that you’re excited about?

Keddie: Working with Great Small Works (www.greatsmallworks.org) on the International Toy Theatre Festival in May along with the Temporary Toy Theatre. I will be writing commentary on the festival as well, most likely in Cabinet Magazine (www.cabinetmagazine.org).

Recently I’ve been DJ’ing a radio show called Movin and Moanin on WNYU. The radio show is mostly early blues with field recordings and current musicians who are heavily influenced by the genre that play as live guests on show. The show is geared to be on FM in June as well as online.

Also just started working with Christopher Lightfoot, the Associate curator of Greek and Roman art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, working on archiving excavation finds from his recent dig in Amorium, Turkey.

RR: Where have you traveled so far this month?

Keddie: From my old apartment into a new one… and what a journey it has been.

RR: What’s your favorite music right now?

Keddie: Blind Willie McTell, Will Oldham, Daniel Higgs, Othar Turner and the All Star Fife and Drum Band, and a lil Karen Dalton in the evening when I get home.

RR: Best food you’ve had in your neighborhood lately or while you were traveling?

Keddie: In my new neighborhood- Le Toukouleur - a vegetarian tagine on a bed of quinoa at french african restaurant on end of street. mmmmmmmm….

RR: Anything Else You Want To Mention?

Keddie: I need a vacation and I would like a moped. Also I want to go to Cuba.
