COROS Pace 4

COROS Pace 4

New $249 new / $199 refurbished · Added Sep 14, 2026

Switched over from an Apple Watch Ultra 2 for running and haven't looked back. Simpler, lighter, way better battery life, and it just picked up full maps in beta. It's better at fitness than the Apple Watch, full stop — you just give up the smartwatch stuff, which turned out to be the point.

Since starting my running journey, I'd only ever used the Apple Watch Ultra 2. It's an amazing watch, but whenever I wanted breadcrumb maps or extra fitness features, I had to download extra apps, mess with settings, and sometimes pay extra just to get what felt like it should be built in.

That gap really showed up on Devil's Path — a 24-25 mile trail run/hike with about 9,000 feet of elevation gain in the Catskill Mountains. I had to worry about battery life, turn on special power-saving settings, and still didn't have an actual map on my wrist.

Why I switched

The price ($249 new, I've seen refurbished units for $199), the simplicity, the battery life, the speed of recharging, the set-it-and-forget-it of it all — the COROS Pace 4 is better at everything fitness. I got about 19 hours* out of it on a long GPS effort (COROS rates it up to 41 hours depending on GPS mode, and up to 19 days for daily wear).

Maps, finally

They just shipped a beta update that gives it full maps. Before that (and still, if you're not on the beta) it only had breadcrumb routes — which was already better than what I could get out of the Apple Watch without extra apps.

The stats are awesome

It even has an MCP, so you can connect it to your AI service of choice to analyze your data and do new, interesting things with it.

It's not a smartwatch, and that's the point

There's no real smartwatch functionality — you can get notifications, but you can't reply to them. It's been genuinely refreshing not to be so connected, but also to not need to be. I never think about this watch until I need it.

Who it's for

If you want a meet-in-the-middle setup, this is a great one: the Pace 4 for fitness and sleep, and the Apple Watch for daily driving. So far, I love this thing.
